INDIA GIVING DAY - MARCH 13, 2026

One Surgery.
One Child.
One Lifetime.

Somewhere in India, a child is about to see the sun for the first time. They just don't know it yet.
You're the reason that happens.
Join us on India Giving Day.

Donations open from March 1, 2026 through India Giving Day, March 13

Help Us Transform Lives, One Gift at a Time

Your donation can create lasting impact in the lives of children and youth supported by the Prakash initiative. Whether it’s providing critical medical care, supporting education, or enabling access to technology, every dollar helps us get one step closer to a brighter future.

Here’s what your contribution can support:

  • $100 – 10 eyeglasses

  • $200 – 1 outreach camp to screen 100 children

  • $200 – 1 mobile phone for a Prakash youth

  • $500 – 1 computer for a Prakash child

  • $600 – Both eyes surgery for Prakash research patients (includes travel, meds, meals, & lodging for child and caregiver)

  • $700 – 1 Prakash youth’s annual vocational training fee (includes boarding & lodging)

  • $1,800 – 1 Prakash child enrolled in an inclusive education program (includes boarding, lodging, and tutoring)

  • $7,000 – Annual salary in India for a Science Research Associate with a master’s degree

Every contribution, big or small, moves us forward. If you'd like to give a custom amount, know that no donation is too small to make a meaningful difference.

Together, we can open eyes, unlock potential, and empower futures.

Project Prakash is proud to join the #PowerOfUs

India Giving Day is a powerful, one-day celebration of collective generosity and Project Prakash is honoured to stand among its participating organizations for 2026.

Founded in 2005 by Dr. Pawan Sinha at MIT, Project Prakash has spent two decades reaching into the most remote villages of north-central India to find children living with preventable blindness and changing their lives forever.

On March 13, your gift doesn't just support one child. It joins a movement. Thousands of donors, hundreds of nonprofits, and one shared belief: that giving together creates something greater than any of us can do alone.

The Voice of Our Donors

"An excellent example of how to bring together service and science"

“For us to have an impact on young lives affected by challenges like blindness, we need to merge a robust program of rural outreach and medical treatment, with fundamental scientific research. Project Prakash stands as an excellent example of how to bring together these seemingly distinct themes of service and science. The effort has lived up to its name by illuminating lives as well as minds. Having interacted with the project team, I am certain that their impact will continue to grow and inspire in the years to come.”
